'Diablo Immortal' to launch on June 2

Blizzard is developing a new Diablo game, but it's built for mobile devices this time. In time for Activision Blizzard's Q1 2022 earnings report, the company announced Diablo Immortal on Android and iOS on June 2. The surprise is it'll launch in open beta on the PC then, too.

Diablo Immortal will get cross-play and cross-progression with controller and keyboard support on the PC. This free-to-play MMORPG is set after Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. It'll be an online-only title with new characters, storylines, and extra content as part of a "living, breathing, and constantly evolving experience." If you're interested, you can pre-register here.

Blizzard said to be working on TV adaptations for 'Diablo' and 'Overwatch'

Ever wanted to see shows based on Blizzard games Diablo and Overwatch? You might get your wish soon. Nick van Dyk, president of Activation-Blizzard, posted on his LinkedIn a project description on TV adaptations for the two games. He writes, “Executive producer of Diablo, a TV adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment’s IP, rendered in anime style. The show is currently in pre-production for distribution worldwide through Netflix. With my creative partner, developed and sold an animated series based Blizzard’s Overwatch franchise.”

While we know that Netflix will be working on the Diablo series, we don't know who will be developing the Overwatch series. But we'll keep our eye out for any updates.

Blizzard receives to backlash over ‘Diablo: Immortal’

After announcing the arrival of Diablo: Immortal for mobile devices, Blizzard was hit by tons of negative comments and reactions from its community of players. The trailers for the game have received a disproportionate amount of dislikes over likes, both for its cinematic trailer and gameplay trailer. One attendee at BlizzCon even asked if the game’s announcement was “an out-of-season April Fool’s joke.” The negative response, IGN says, most likely stems from long-standing rumours surrounding new Diablo games coming with some assuming Diablo 4 was on its way. Some are also concerned about how Diablo: Immortal looks similar to a previously released NetEase mobile game called Endless of God.

Blizzard announces ‘full-fledged’ ‘Diablo’ mobile RPG

Blizzard will be bringing Diablo to both Android and iOS. The developer announced at BlizzCon 2018 that the game is getting a “full-fledged action RPG” called Diablo Immortal. The game picks up after Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. The game will be a massive multiplayer online action game. It’ll let players drop in and out of groups as well as play through “dynamic events” as they travel through the Sanctuary. The classes include barbarian, crusader, demon hunter, monk, necromancer, and wizard.

Blizzard has opened pre-registration for those who would be interested to join the game’s upcoming beta. The game creator is working with NetEase to develop the game. They promise that there will be new characters and storylines introduced into the RPG.
