You can share 15-second Spotify song clips on Facebook Stories

Spotify wants to help you share your music taste on Facebook with this new feature. You can now share 15-second clips of music from Spotify on your Facebook Stories. The streaming music service is gearing this towards musicians, claiming it's a "more powerful way to connect with fans." But anyone who has a Spotify and Facebook account can use it. If your followers tap on the preview, they will be transferred to Spotify where you can listen to the rest of the track. There's a similar feature available for Instagram.

To share the song on Facebook you just need to hit "Share" when listening to the track on Spotify. When the menu shows up, select Facebook and customize it the way you want before you post. It only works for single tracks right now. The preview for albums and playlists will not have the 15-second clip.

Facebook to merge Messenger Day with Stories

Facebook looks to be consolidating its Stories feature by folding into it the redundant Messenger Day feature. Stories, in case you aren’t familiar, is the feature that lets you post disappearing images or videos, similar to Snapchat (which is what Facebook blatantly copied down to the name). Now, if you post on Stories, it’ll appear on both Messenger and the main Facebook app. The camera filters remain separate, though. On top of this Facebook is also killing off the Direct messaging feature, which is where replies to your Stories used to go. Now, all the messages to Stories and Facebook Camera will head straight to Messenger.

The social network is also introducing collaborative Stories for events, which will let users collectively contribute to a single Story for an event. These submissions will then be moderated by the said event’s administrators. A new privacy setting will also be introduced that lets you limit who can see your posts. Those with access to the stripped-down Facebook Lite app will also be getting a version of Facebook Stories.

Facebook tries bringing Stories feature to desktop users

While Instagram Stories has helped significantly boost daily users on its platform (it’s now at 250 million daily users compared to the 166 million users of Snapchat), the same can’t be said for Facebook’s own take/blatant rip-off of the Snapchat feature. And perhaps that’s what pushing them to bring the feature to the desktop. Facebook is rolling out its Stories feature to desktop users. The feature, which was popularized by Snapchat, lets you take photos and videos that stay on the service for 24 hours. It’s already available for mobile app users because you do use your smartphone to take these clips. But now Facebook wants desktop users to be able to see what mobile users are sharing. The feature shows up at the top right corner of the browser, on top of your pages and the other tabs on the right side of the browser. When you pull up a story, it’ll black out the screen and show the clip or photo at the center. Much like what happens when you watch a video. It’s currently being tested on users so it may or not show up on your browser yet but Facebook plans to have a wider rollout for it in the future.
