Warner Bros. pushes back filming for ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’

Warner Bros.

Production for the next installment of the Fantastic Beasts has been pushed back. The reason is they need more time for pre-production. Instead of starting filming in July, it’s going to begin in the late fall of this year. As Deadline mentions, the studio tended to rush event films to keep release dates, but with Fantastic Beasts 3 having a 2020 release, they’re willing to give more leeway when it comes to the schedule. Not much is known about the film yet, but it’s said to focus on Grindelwald and Dumbledore’s relationship. The film will also address the unanswered questions from The Crimes of Grindelwald. David Yates will be directing the film with J.K. Rowling, David Heyman, Lionel Wigram, and Steve Kloves acting as producers. Rowling will be writing the screenplay.

J.K. Rowling fans get "Fantastic Beasts" experience in Toronto

The larger than life suitcase situated at Yonge-Dundas Square has opened up the world of JK Rowling's "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" but not for long. The magical world will disappear by 9pm tonight (November 9th). It's there in to build more excitement for the upcoming worldwide theatrical release of the movie opening on November 18.

Stepping inside Newt's suitcase we saw various props and actual costumes from the film that was set in 1926 New York. VR enthusiasts can explore the magic looking for beasts. Gamers can try their hand at the the Fantastic Beasts Lego Dimensions game (set to be released the same day of the movie), and take photos with people in character and more. If you were one of the first to show up at the exhibit all dressed in Harry Potter gear, you could have won a wizard wand. Coveted swag including collectible posters and t-shirts were given away to a few lucky people when we were there. The stunning exhibit experience was created only for Toronto.

Fantastic Beasts is considered a new era in J.K. Rowling's wonderful wizard world before Harry Potter. The film stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander. As a Magizoologist, he travels the world researching magical creatures and documents their importance and why they must be protected. He also keeps them in his suitcase. He was a former student of Hogwarts until he was expelled and eventually wrote one of the school's most important textbooks.

Check your watches -- you may still be able to make it.

You may want to brush up on the lingo. FYI a no-maj is American for Muggle.

Who's excited?
