Flickr's iOS app now more like Camera Roll, can auto-upload all your photos

Flickr is continously innovating its apps to regain part of the photo storage and sharing mojo it once had. The new version of the Flickr iOS app now behaves more like Apple's Camera Roll which makes it more familiar to users. Photos can now be auto-uploaded to Flickr, making it easier than ever before to backup and share.

Flickr also features various photo filters and the ability to share directly to Instagram. Flickr is offering 1TB of free storage, and a typical iPhone photo coming in at around 2.5Mb, that gives you capacity in the order of half a million photos. Apple becomes the second most popular camera brand on Flickr

A testament to the popularity of the iPhone (ok, and maybe the iPad, too), Apple has surpassed Nikon as the second most popular camera brand on Flickr. Why is this significant? Well Apple doesn't make standalone cameras (QuickTake and iSight are both discontinued) but its iPhone cameras are prolific and popular. Leading the pack is Canon with 13.4 per cent, Apple folloes with 9.6 per cent and Nikon has 9.3 per cent.

Flickr adds two-column layout for Android tablets

Flickr is optimizing its app for Android tablets with its latest update. The app now has a two-column view for tablets. Aside from that, you will be able to browse through photos within the full-screen lightbox view. This means you can swipe through photos without having to exit full-screen view. That second feature works for all Android devices.

The photo-centric app also has more in-app photo cropping features and the ability to share a number of photos in one batch instead of one at a time. The update should already be pushed to your Flickr app.
