Google One VPN comes to iOS

If you're an iOS user that has a Google One Premium subscription, you now have access to the VPN service. Google brings the feature to subscribers who pay for 2TB or more of Google One storage in 18 countries, including Canada. As The Verge noted, the feature is similar to Apple's Private Relay service for all its paid iCloud plans. The VPN service works to keep your IP and internet traffic private, but it won't let you get an IP address in another country, which potentially unlocks different shows on streaming services.

Google's VPN service for Android users also gets new features like "safe disconnect," allowing you to shut off internet access if you're disconnected from the VPN to ensure your data is secure. It will also allow you to set certain apps to bypass the VPN on Android devices.

Google One's mobile VPN feature comes to Canada

If you subscribe to the 2TB plan or higher Google One plan, you get access to Google's mobile VPN, at least if you're in the US. But now, Google is bringing this feature to Canada, Mexico, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. The VPN is baked into the Google One app, and Android users can get their info encrypted and protected no matter what app you're using. 

Since its launch, Google's VPN has gotten some new features, like blocking internet traffic when the VPN is inactive. You can also bypass the VPN in some situations or with specific apps, and you can set timed controls for when you want to be free from the VPN. Google One customers can earn Google Store credit with new rewards program

Google is offering a new rewards program for its Google One cloud storage platform users who plan on buying new Google devices. It will allow you to earn Google Store credit in Canada.

Google One members on select plans who purchase a Google device or accessory from the Google Store qualify to earn as much as 10 percent back in Google Store credit. Those with 200GB plans will get three percent back in Google Store credit, while those with 2TB,10TB, 20TB, or 30TB plans will get 10 percent back.

Google One gets automatic phone backup

Google wants to help out its Google One subscribers secure the data on their phone. All Google One users now have automatic phone backup of photos, videos, and MMS. You don't have to worry about keeping important images, videos, contacts, and messages with you—even if you break your phone, lose it, or switch to a new one. Aside from offering texts, contacts, and apps backup, Google One can keep original quality photos, videos, and multimedia messages (MMS). We must note that Google Photos also offers original quality photo and video backup.
