Circle to Search is more convenient than ever on Pixel Tablets

Circle to Search is a game-changer for searching on your screen. Simply hold down and interact with what you want to search—text, image, or even a scribble! Initially available on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, Google has been expanding its reach to Pixel devices, including the Pixel Tablet.

However, there was a snag: Circle to Search wouldn't work with the action key on the Pixel Tablet in Android 15. This key, found on the taskbar (revealed by swiping up on the navigation handle), launches the app drawer. While long-pressing the navigation handle itself activated Circle to Search, it disappeared when switching to the persistent taskbar (the old taskbar style brought back in Android 15 DP2). This meant no Circle to Search unless you switched back to the default taskbar.

Wasserstein’s new stand gives you more control over your Pixel Tablet

Photo: Wasserstein

The Google dock for the Pixel Tablet has some perks: it secures, charges, and amplifies the tablet. Plus, it turns it into a hub. But it doesn't let you adjust the viewing angle. And that's what the Wasserstein Adjustable Stand wants to address. It's a pill-shaped base with a ball-and-socket joint that holds the Google dock. It looks like Wasserstein's other stands for the Nest Hub and similar devices. The best part is that you can tilt and swivel the tablet any way you want.

The Wasserstein stand is made of quality materials and certified by Google. It also folds flat for easy portability. You might think the Google dock looks sleeker, but the Wasserstein stand gives you more flexibility. You can order this Pixel Tablet accessory now for only USD 25 (around CAD 34), which is discounted from its regular price of USD 40 (~CAD 54). It will ship in July 2023, just after the Pixel Tablet hits the stores on June 20.

Google Pixel Tablet debuts, brings a tablet and a Nest Hub in one

Photo: Google

Google has finally launched the Pixel Tablet, a hybrid device that works as a smart display and a detachable tablet. It was first teased at I/O last year, but now it is available for pre-order at a starting price of CAD 699, including the speaker base. In the US, you can also buy extra docks for USD 120 (around CAD 163) each to place them in different rooms. (This option isn't showing up on the Google Canada store.)

The Pixel Tablet is not a typical tablet nor a successor to the Pixel Slate. It is more like a Nest Hub Max with an 11-inch screen that you can take off the base. Google said it was inspired by porcelain to create a nano-ceramic coating that gives the device a textured feel. It comes in three colours: Hazel (grey), Porcelain (white), or Rose (US only). The first one has black bezels, while the others have white ones.

Leaked listing reveals rumoured Google Pixel Tablet

Photo: Google

Google’s Pixel Tablet is expected to debut at Google I/O this May 10, but its features may have already been revealed by a deleted Amazon Japan listing. The 11-inch Android tablet will reportedly have Google’s Tensor G2 chip, 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, and an LCD with USI 2.0 stylus support, 2,560 x 1,600 resolution, and 500 nits of brightness.

It will also supposedly have two eight-megapixel cameras, quad speakers, three microphones, a USB-C port, and Wi-Fi 6 support. The tablet will come with a wireless dock that doubles as a speaker and a smart display. And it is expected to be available in four colours. The price is estimated to be around USD 600 - USD 700 (approx. CAD 816 - CAD 952), depending on the region and storage capacity.
