Former Stadia chief Jade Raymond opens independent game studio in Montreal
After Google closed its internal Stadia game studios in February, its former head Jade Raymond left the company. Now, over a month since its closure, Raymond has already moved on to her next role. She is opening a new independent studio in Montreal called Haven Studios. Her development studio is already working on an unannounced, original game for Sony's PlayStation.
The former EA and Ubisoft producer, who has worked on titles like Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs, wrote in a post on the PlayStation blog that she brings together "many of the talented game developers I have worked with for years" at Haven Studios. You can't entirely miss the subtle dig at Google in her post as she wrote, "It's time for us to refocus on GAMES in a place where we can practice our crafts without any barriers or impediments."
