Review: Nikon 1 J1 Interchangeable Lens Camera

When Nikon finally decided to join the mirrorless and ILC (Interchangeable Lens Cameras) this year, many enthusiasts expected expensive prosumer type models with a lot of technical features similar to Nikon's market leading DSRLs. The Nikon 1 J1 ($649) with a 10-30mm lens, the more consumer oriented of the two models released isn't dirt cheap and it isn't all that complicated to use. With a Lego-like cuteness factor seemingly geared to the fashionable and trendy set and an extremely compact body, the Nikon 1 J1 is full of surprises.

WishList: Panasonic Lumix GX1 Micro-Four Thirds Camera

This is simply beautiful. The Pansonic GX1 could be the next flagship ILC from Panny. It is said to boast the following features: A 16 megapixel sensor, a new Venus engine,  ultra fast 0,09 second AF with the new X lenses, 460k and 3 inch LCD touch screen.

The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GX1-KK with a 14-42mm standard zoom lens will be available in black in mid-December for an MSRP of $849.99, and the body only (DMC-GX1K) for an MSRP of $749.99. The DMC-GX1-XK with the LUMIX G X VARIO PZ 14-42mm / F3.5-5.6 ASPH. / POWER O.I.S (H-PS14042) lens will have an MSRP of $999.99 and will be available at a later date.

Olympus has been a pioneer in the (Interchangeable Lens Camera) market with its PEN line of Micro Four Thirds cameras which came to market two years ago. Now, with competition from the likes of Sony, Samsung, Pentax, Panasonic and most recently Nikon, the market for compact yet full features camera bodies and lenses is heating up.

Canon to make a Historic Global Announcement on Nov 3rd

Canon may finally be getting into the compact Interchangeable Lens Camera market in 2012. The leader in DSLR and point-and-shoot segement, Canon is the remaining holdout in this popular new area of photography. Perennial Archrival Nikon has already played its hand with the Nikon N1 which will be available soon. Canon still has to consider Sony, Olympus, Pentax, Panasonic and Fujifilm which all have appealing small models with alre sensors and a variety of lenses.
