Instagram now lets you mute accounts you don't want to unfollow

Sometimes you have friends or family members you follow on Instagram that you don’t particularly care for but you can't necessarily unfollow. Instagram is going to help you save face with the new feature its introducing. The social network now has a mute option. As the name suggests, it won't show you posts or stories (or both) of people you mute. It's similar to the mute feature on Instagram and the unfollow on Facebook. You can turn mute on or off through the three-dot menu at the top right of the user's profile. You can opt out of seeing posts or stories or both. Instagram is currently rolling this out so you may or may not have this option already.

You can now share Instagram posts to your stories

Similar to how you can share what you’ve been listening to on Spotify to Instagram Story, you can now share your posts and public posts in your timeline, too. When you share a post on Story, it’ll come up like a sticker and will have the original poster’s username and a link to the original post. It’s an easy way to promote brands or friends to your other followers. If you don’t want other people sharing your content, there is an option in settings you can toggle. Simply scroll down and look for the “Allow Others To Reshare” option. If you have a private account, you don’t have to do anything. The feature is rolling out on Android already. iOS users will be getting the feature in the coming weeks.

Instagram introduces ‘emoji sliders’ for polling your followers

Instagram thinks binary options for polls aren’t enough, they want you to work with a scale… or an emoji slider, in this case. It’s a new way to get feedback from your loved ones and followers about what they feel about anything you want to poll them on. For example, how much of a snake your ex is on a scale of not a snake to 100 percent snake. The emoji slider was borne out of the popularity of the poll sticker. If you want to try it out, it’s now rolling out to users and you can find it with the rest of the stickers in the sticker tray.

WhatsApp adds support for in-line Instagram and Facebook videos on iOS

When you share YouTube videos on WhatsApp, your recipient will be able to watch the video right from the conversation thread. The same thing can be done now for Instagram and Facebook videos, at least for iOS users. WhatsApp brings these features to the 2.18.51 update of the app. It also brings more feature to group chats, including the ability to add or revoke administrator privileges of other users in the chat as well as the ability for active admins to edit the description, icon, and subject of an ongoing chat. The update is currently rolling out to users so you may or may not see it immediately. No word yet when these features will be coming to Android.
