Mark Ronson makes first Instagram Story music video

Grammy-winning producer Mark Ronson partnered with Sony Music and Instagram to release the first-ever interactive music video on the platform's Stories feature. The video was for "Pieces of Us," a song featuring King Princess and off his new album, Late Night Feelings. The phone-filmed video was made specifically for Instagram Stories. With this feature being designed to be temporary, the video will appear in consecutive 24-hour cycles, each offering the viewer a different kind of interaction. Fans are encouraged to engage by adding polls, lyric stickers, and new Augmented Reality filters into their own Stories. Ronson has been incorporating the fan-made versions into his Stories in what Fast Company describes as "some sort of electro-beat, sticker-covered ouroboros." Eventually, the full video will be available on Ronson's IGTV.

Instagram will now let you share IGTV videos on Instagram Story

Being able to add a link to an IGTV videos used to be limited to business accounts. But now, Instagram will let all its users share IGTV videos on Instagram Story. You just need to tap on the paper airplane icon and it’ll show you an option to “Add video to your story.” Your followers can just tap on the preview to watch the entire video in IGTV. The feature works similar to how users can repost stories they’ve been mentioned in.

Instagram testing out splitting longer videos in segments for Stories

While Instagram has IGTV for its long-form videos, it seems it wants to help out Instagram Story users who want to share videos that are longer than 15 seconds. Reddit user T0oYoung discovered that Instagram is letting users record more than 15 seconds and segmenting these clips into chunks for upload. This means you don’t need to trim the videos yourself. Instagram hasn’t officially announced this feature so it’s most likely a test at this point. As Ubergizmo points out, it looks like the text or filters applied on one segment doesn’t seem to carry over to the next one. That said, those who want to share longer clips might appreciate this feature, if it gets official, that is.

Instagram introduces ‘Question Sticker’ to Stories

Instagram’s latest addition to its ephemeral Stories feature is a new sticker. The Question Sticker will help you interact with your friends and followers easily. This joins the existing polling sticker and emoji slider and is accessible through the stickers section of Stories. Type out your question and just like any other sticker you can place this anywhere in your story. When your friends or followers want to answer, they just tap the sticker to reply and answer as many times as they want. You’ll see all the responses in your viewers list and you even have the option to share their answers. But when you share their responses, their username and photo won’t be visible. Question Sticker is rolling out to both the iOS and Android apps.
