Apple promoting educational Apps for World Autism Awareness Day

Today is the 8th World Autism Awareness Day, which kicks off Autism Awareness Month. Apple is highlighting a series of iOS apps to assist autistic individuals. The apps appear within an Autism Awareness Month section of iTunes under Education heading. iTunes also features a large number of podcasts by non-profit Autism Empowerment.

One in 68 U.S. children has an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), 30% higher than previous estimates, according to the CDC. Information on Autism in Canada can be found here. Hit jump for some of the featured iPad apps.

Back to School: The Great iOS/OS X app roundup

 

Although popular for games, entertainment and productivity apps. Apple's app stores for iOS and OS X have a promising array of educational and back-to-school related applications that maximize the use of their mobile devices. Adobe's Photoshop Touch apps now available for iPads

None of these are Photoshop for the iPad but a trio of Photoshop Touch apps that integrate with Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 are now available in Apple's app store. Adobe Color Lava, Adobe Eazel and Adobe Nav – for Apple iPad were developed using the Photoshop Touch Software Development Kit (SDK) to demonstrate the potential for new interaction between Photoshop and tablet devices.
