'Avatar: The Way of Water' gets a new trailer

We get to see more of James Cameron's fantastical sequel to the 2009 epic, Avatar. A new trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water just dropped, reminding us why this film may be worth its rumoured US$250 million budget. Avatar 2 is "set more than a decade after the events of the first film" and, "tells the story of the Sully family, the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure."

We don't get much in terms of the plot with this new trailer, but it offers a good look at Sam Worthington's Jake Sully, a man who left his human body behind to become one of the Na'vi blue aliens from the original blockbuster. The film also brings back Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver (albeit in a different role) and includes Kate Winslet, among others.

‘Avatar 2’ might be coming to theaters December 2018

Nine years after the original Avatar film came out might be the next release date for the upcoming sequel. Fox pegs the release date at December 21, 2018. This isn’t the first time it’s been rumoured that the film is coming out around Christmas 2018 and so far that’s when we really might see the movie. Director James Cameron has said it’s more important for him that the upcoming movies be released as close together as possible, so if this gets pushed back again, don’t be as surprised. “If it’s an annual appointment to show up at Christmas. I want to make sure that we’re able to fulfill on that promise.” Cameron is also pushing to release Avatar 2 and the other films using glasses-free 3D technology.

'Avatar' trilogy expands into comic books

Just in case you didn't get enough of James Cameron's Avatar and its upcoming two movies, the universe is expanding into the graphic novel market. The comics will cover "the time before, during, and after the events of the original Avatar film." So, it's basically a prequel and sequel all rolled into one or rather the stuff they couldn't put in the film. Of course, we're assuming those coming after the movie should be after the second and third movie, because that will just completely spoil the story for the upcoming films.
