Riot Games will host 'League of Legends' 2021 championship in Shenzhen on November 6

Even with the pandemic, Riot Games held last year's League of Legends finals in person, so it's not surprising the developer plans to host this year's championships in the flesh again. Riot Games announced that the 2021 World Championship would be held in Shenzhen, China, on November 6. It didn't mention safety measures, but more details are coming at "later dates." Riot did mention the 60,334-person capacity of the Universiade Sports Center venue.

Last year's competition in Shanghai relied on an "isolation bubble" for the competitors, with the event proceeding mostly as planned. There were substitutes for players who couldn't compete due to pandemic-related travel issues. It looks like the developers are confident enough that it mounted last year's event successfully, plus there's hope on improved conditions with vaccine rollouts ongoing. It won't be surprising if other tournaments follow suit, of course, with the need for safety measures in place still.

'League of Legends: Wild Rift' to come to iOS, take advantage of new iPhone 12

There is no official release date yet for League of Legends: Wild Rift. But Riot Games came on during Apple's iPhone 12 event to talk about the title coming to iOS later this year, specifically how it'll take advantage of the new phones. This mobile adaptation of the popular MOBA title arrives when Fortnite is no longer available on iOS due to legal issues between Apple and its developer Epic Games. Perhaps Riot Games and Apple are taking a chance to boost their profiles a bit (whether they need to or not is another conversation).

We don't know yet if Wild Rift will be playable on other iOS devices, but we understand it'll take advantage of the new A14 Bionic chip on the iPhone 12 as well as 5G connectivity for promised "fast speeds." The closed beta of the game is now available for Android, and it's now possible to sign up for the iOS beta.
