CES 2017: A quick peek at three new Lenovo ThinkPad devices

You know Lenovo’s ThinkPad line as a staple in the enterprise market. Making sure this segment gets the latest and greatest specs and features, Lenovo has updated this line to fit current requirements and wants of the modern-day worker. We take a quick look at the three devices.

First, we have the more conventional laptop, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. It smaller and lighter but still as powerful. It comes in at under 2.5 lbs. and has a 14-inch IPS display housed in a 13-inch form factor. It runs on 64-bit Microsoft Windows 10 Pro, up to Intel Core 7th-generation processor, and up to 1TB storage. It’s said to have LTE-A (4G) connectivity to help you stay connected while on the move. The big draw for the Carbon though is the promised 15.5-hour battery life. Security is key with support for Windows Hello, a fingerprint sensor, and FIDO-enabled biometric authentication for PayPal. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon retails for US$1,349 (roughly CA$1,800) and will come with a silver color option when it’s released in February.

Few PC manufacturers can iterate and refine their products on a steady and regular basis the way that Lenovo has for its ThinkPad line. The X1 series is all about power and portability with the flagship being the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, regarded by many to be the best notebook PC at its price point.

This year at CES, Lenovo is flexing some serious muscle, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon is now the world’s lightest 14-inch business ultrabook at just 2.6 pounds (previous version was over 3 pounds).
