Review: Apple MacBook (2015)

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

While the MacBook does have some compromises (some of them glaring), there is no doubt that most of its features aren’t just here to stay, we can expect them to permeate the rest of Apple’s notebook and possibly even their desktop line.

The new 12-inch Apple MacBook with a Retina Display is the latest in a long series of notebook innovations by Apple. It follows boldly in the footsteps of the PowerBook Duos, the transparent clamshell iBooks, the Titanium PowerBook G4 and its parent, the MacBook Air.

Nonda's Hub + for new MacBook gains momentum on Kickstarter

Apple's exciting new MacBook is starting to show up and while it features one singular USB Type-C port, it has opened up a lot of opportunities for third-party companies to create solutions for this limitation. Hub+ offers 2 USB-C ports, 1 SDXC card reader, 1 Display port , 3 USB-A \ charging ports plus one built-in lithium ion battery to charge ANY phone which makes it a must-have accessory for any serious MacBook user.

Interested buyers can head over to Kickstarter and pledge US $79.00 (the price of an Apple adaptor) you get all the above ports in your colour of choice. Five of the 10 limited edition 24K Gold Plated unites (selling for US $3999.00 each) are already spoken for.  The three colors will only be available if we meet the stretch goal of $250k so for now its silver or super pricey Gold.

New MacBook is a no show in some stores, proving it is a rare bird

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

While a lot of the attention has been focused on Apple Watch, the new 12-inch MacBook was supposed to be available for order and sale in stores today as well. While waiting to get into the Apple Store this morning for the Watch there were a few people who showed up wanting to buy the new super-sleek and super-innovative MacBook, but none were available in store.

While the MacBook, which is the first Apple portable to be sold in the three iPhone colours of Gold, Silver and Space Grey, is available for purchase online, shipping times reflect a 3-4 week wait period before shipping.

Ten One Design launches 'Force Touch' enabled Inklet app for new Apple trackpad

One of the bigger innovations released by Apple this year is the Force Touch trackpad in the upcoming MacBook and new MacBook Pro 13-inch with Retina Display. Force Touch enables pressure sensitive drawing much like some standalone drawing tablets, it also has force-feedback that simulates button presses.

Available today for $24.95, Inklet 1.6 is the first third-party drawing application to add Force Touch support. It allows any Mac drawing program to gain pressure-sensitive input, and can be used with either a stylus or just a fingertip. This opens up a whole new range of functionality for marking up documents, creating accurate sketches or even just signing documents and PDFs right on a compatible Mac's trackpad. Here's hoping more developers create apps that make use of this innovation.
