McDonald's Canada adds first-ever electric vehicle to distribution fleet

Source: McDonald's

McDonald's Canada is testing out using zero-tailpipe emission tractors for its distribution needs in the Montréal area. With its supply chain distribution partner, Martin Brower, McDonald's uses the new Volvo VNR Electric Class 8 tractor. These will pull McDonald's-branded trailers to deliver to local branches within a 150km range. The company will use the trial to evaluate the tractor's performance in different weather conditions.

Aside from the Montréal trial, there are plans to conduct the same test in Brampton later this year. It's part of the company's larger plan to transition to lower-emission vehicles (where feasible) for its supply chain fleet that serves over 1,400 restaurants in the country. Globally, McDonald's has committed to achieving net-zero emissions across its operations by 2050.

McDonald's celebrates National Coffee Day by offering free coffee on Sept. 29th

Tim Hortons isn't the only one giving away free coffee on National Coffee Day. McDonald's is offering a free cup of Premium Roast Coffee of any size if you order through the My McD's app. That's the only catch to secure one free cup. No, you can't get another one every time you order. It's limited to one free coffee per customer. And, unfortunately, the offer isn't available in Alberta, the Northwest Territories, and Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. But if you aren't in those areas and you want some free coffee, then use the app. It's available for free on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
