Microsoft halts production of Xbox One X, Xbox One S digital edition

As Microsoft ramps up its production of the Xbox Series X, the company announced that it'll stop production of the Xbox One X and the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition consoles. The only Xbox One console that will continue to be sold will be the Xbox One S. Of course, the remaining stocks for some retailers will still be around. A Microsoft spokesperson told The Verge that people should check with their local retailers if they still have the consoles. Reports of shortages have surfaced as more people buy game consoles while they're stuck at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The Xbox Series X will be launched later this year. Microsoft plans to continue its Xbox All Access subscriptions with this next-gen console. And rumours are going around that a cheaper, less powerful Xbox Series console will be unveiled next month. Codenamed "Lockhart," this rumoured Series X console is considered a big part of Microsoft's pricing strategy for the new gaming machines. This second console may be called the Xbox Series S, and it's expected to focus on 1080p/1440p gaming.

Microsoft launches the All-Digital Edition of the Xbox One S

After countless rumours, Microsoft has officially launched the disc-less Xbox One S in the US. The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition Is priced at US$249 (around CA$330), which is $50 off its recommended retail price. This new model will hit stores in the US on May 7^th. As suggested in the rumours, this doesn’t come with a Blu-ray drive. Instead, you get a 1TB HDD with digital versions of Forza Horizon 3, Sea of Thieves, and Minecraft preinstalled. There is no design change outside of the lack of the 4K Blu-ray drive.

‘All Digital’ version of the Microsoft Xbox One S gets leaked

A disc-free Xbox One might be coming in our immediate future. WinFuture got images of what’s being called the Xbox One S All Digital. This version is basically an Xbox One S without a Blu-ray drive. Instead, it comes with a 1TB hard drive (at least in Europe) and it also comes with preinstalled copies of Forza Horizon 3, Minecraft, and Sea of Thieves. We’re expecting this to launch as early as April 16^th and hit Europe by May 7^th. This time frame could be the same in other markets as well. The Xbox One S All Digital will reportedly be priced at €230 (around CA$350).
