mophie introduces new wireless charging cases for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge

mophie unveils its first wireless charging case for the new Galaxy devices. It can charge both the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge with its 3,300mAh battery. It brings 11 extra talk time hours, four extra hours if you’re browsing the web, seven extra hours if you’re watching videos, and 28 more hours if you’re just playing music on the Galaxy S7. For the S7 edge, it brings 13 hours of extra talk time, five hours of browsing, 11 hours of video, and 40 hours of music.

Aside from that, the case also protects the phones from damage caused by modest drops with its Impact-Isolation System. It has a pass through for quick charging and syncing the handsets and access to using the buttons. It’ll come in Rose Gold and Black for US$99.95 (around $135).

Zagg purchases Mophie for US$100 million

It’s a joining together of mobile accessory makers. Mobile accessory manufacturer Zagg has bought phone battery case maker Mophie for at least US$100 million, which could change figures later depending on the sales figures of Mophie. “This strategic combination of two industry innovators with complementary product, brand and distribution platforms will enable us to deliver increased value for our customers and shareholders,” Randy Hales, president and chief executive officer of Zagg, said in a statement. Mophie first gained popularity as a battery case for iPhones but later expanded to Android devices and then to standalone battery packs.

Mophie outs aluminum-clad power banks

Mophie is giving you mobile warriors a more premium-looking set of power banks with different capacities and capabilities. The new powerstations come built with an aluminum shell for a classier look. It comes in five different models including a smaller 1X model (US$40) with 2,000mAh capacity and charging speeds of up to 1.8A. The 2X model ($60) has 4,000mAh capacity with 2.4A charging speed. The 3X ($80) shares the charging speed of the 2X but it has a 6,000mAh capacity and a second USB port. Meanwhile, the powerhouse battery packs are the 5X ($130) and 8X ($150), both include Bluetooth monitoring using the free Power app on Android and iOS. The 5X has 10,000mAh capacity, while the 8X has 15,000mAh power. These two have dual charging capabilities. It’s said t be coming to Apple Store locations so hopefully it makes its way here, too.
