Lenovo's Moto Z wants you to 'skip the sevens'

It was bound to happen. With the hype and criticism surrounding both the Apple iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy Note7, you'd expect someone to take a stab at it. Lenovo does it with its new Moto Z and it's Moto Mods. The video shows the company interviewing supposed iPhone enthusiasts (they claim these are not actors) that aren't showing particular enthusiasm for the new devices. They showed off the Moto Mods and have them being blown away by the accessories.

At the same time, they took out an ad in the New York Times saying people should "skip the sevens" (referring to the aforementioned devices) and try something new instead of the usual devices that take years to innovate. We're not sure how this'll pan out for them but it's a very ballsy strategy.

Lenovo outs two funny new videos for its Moto Mods

Lenovo shows off the capabilities of its new Moto Mods while keeping its new ads as entertaining as it can get. The first clip as you see above demonstrates the capabilities of the Moto Insta-Share Projector, which comes with an integrated kickstand and projects up to 70 inches on any flat surface. It can even boost your battery life by an hour. The ad also teaches us an important lesson that cat videos are also a great way to distract zombies.

Lenovo promises to bring Android Security Updates to the Moto Z and G

If we were to think about one good thing about the Motorola brand before, it was the stock version of Android it ran that received software updates and security patches quickly. But now that it’s under Lenovo, people have been questioning if the tech company will be able to release timely updates, including the monthly security updates Google releases. Some were pointing out it took Lenovo three months to release a security update for the Moto X Pure and this might carry over to the new Moto Z and Moto G4 phones.

A representative from Lenovo told Digital Times in an email that the Moto Z, Moto Z Force, and Moto G Family will support the Android Security Bulletin patches and “they will receive an update shortly after launch with additional patches.” However, they didn’t specify how often or up-to-date the patches will be. Tech companies are notorious for taking their time to release updates. Let’s just hope they buck this trend.
