'Stardew Valley's brings multiplayer mode to the Switch this week

It's not news that Stardew Valley is getting a multiplayer mode. It was announced at Nintendo Direct last year that it was coming to the Switch. But now, we get a release date. Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone announced it'll be coming to the Switch on December 12, Wednesday.

This cooperative online multiplayer mode will let up to four  players coexist on one farm. The host player will live in the farmhouse while the other players get cabins. The players get to work together and share the spoils of hard labour. While the world state and overall pool of cash are shared among all players, ConcernedApe reminds players in his latest blog post, "inventories, skills, achievements, collections, individual relationships, quests, and crafting/cooking recipes" are unique to individuals. The update brings with it a new voice chat and text-based communication tool. The update will come for free to all Switch players. Meanwhile, PS4 and Xbox One should expect the update soon.

Three NES classics coming to Nintendo Switch on December 12th

Ninja Gaiden

Nintendo Switch Online is bringing three NES classics into its fold in the coming week. Nintendo just announced it’ll be adding the hardcore NES favorite Ninja Gaiden from Koei Tecmo. The system is also getting HAL’s The Adventures of Lolo, which is a for-all-ages puzzle game. And Wario’s Woods, which is the last NES game that came out before the system was “retired” will also be hitting the service. The three games will be coming on December 12.

If you’re not using Switch Online yet but have a Nintendo Switch, you can sign up for an individual plan for $4.99 per month, $9.99 for three months, or 24.99 for one year. If you want to get a family plan, which can have up to eight Nintendo account holders, that costs $44.99 for a 12-month membership.

Leak suggests YouTube is coming to the Nintendo Switch on November 8th

If you wanted to stream video on the Nintendo Switch, your only option before was Hulu (and Niconico, if you’re in Japan). But that’s it. Now, signs point to YouTube finally making its way to the service. Some users have been searching Nintendo’s site for games and have gotten suggestions for a YouTube app that is said to be coming on November 8th. Its product page doesn’t lead to anything but that’s as close to a confirmation as we can get right now. This isn’t the first time, Google has brought YouTube to a Nintendo device and with the company working on bringing its streaming service to all platforms, this will be a welcome addition. It’ll also help make the Switch an all-around multimedia device. Granted, there’s still a long way to go but this would be a good place to start.
