Nothing Chats app removed after shocking security flaws revealed

Nothing

Nothing and Sunbird withdrew their insecure iMessage bridge after it was revealed that Sunbird not only logged and stored messages, vCards, and other data but also allowed others to download the user data. The app raised suspicions within days for its apparent lack of encryption and its use of plaintext HTTP to send login credentials over the internet.

Android app developer Dylan Roussel discovered some alarming facts about the app that showed how unsafe it was for its users. In a thread, Roussel claimed that Sunbird had access to every message and file sent through the app and that Nothing Chats did not use end-to-end encryption at all.

Nothing and CASETiFY launch smartphone case collab for iPhone 14 and 15

CASETiFY and Nothing

Nothing, the British electronics brand known for its minimalist design, has partnered with CASETiFY for a new line of smartphone cases. But it isn't for its phones. Instead, the collaboration features four cases compatible with the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 series. It carries that transparent back design distinctive for its devices, but they've made the phone cases for Apple devices. It's available in black or white, with either the "Nothing" logo or white lines highlighting the wireless charger. If you want to confuse people, here's a case to get.

The collection also includes a Nothing Mini Pouch for the Ear (2), Nothing’s wireless earbuds. The pouch has a utility lanyard that makes it easy to carry and access your earbuds and their case. The Nothing x CASETiFY collaboration is available on CASETiFY's website, with pricing starting at US$70 (around CA$97).

What you need to know about the Nothing phone (2)

Photo: Nothing

The Nothing Phone (2) is the latest smartphone from the London-based company, with a sleek and symmetrical design. Its looks don't stray too far from its predecessor. But it comes with a few improvements to the rear panel, particularly its Glyph interface.

The Glyph interface consists of several LED segments that can be customized and used for different purposes. For example, you can use it as a visual countdown, to check delivery progress, or see the volume level on the back of your phone. You can also enable Essential Glyph Notifications, which will keep one LED on until you check an important message. You can also make your Nothing phone (2) more personal by choosing different lights and sounds for your contacts and apps.

Nothing shines brighter with the Phone 2’s enhanced Glyph interface

Photo: Nothing

Nothing is revamping its unique Glyph interface for the upcoming Phone 2 smartphone. The phone is set to debut on July 11. YouTuber Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) has shared an early hands-on video with the new smartphone that showcases the light interface embedded in the back of the phone, and the enhancements Nothing has made to it since last year’s Phone 1.

The Glyph interface has a similar pattern. But it now features more zones of LED lighting, which should enable it to offer more refined control of the phone’s lighting effects. The Phone 2 has almost triple the number of zones, with 33 zones compared to 12 on the Phone 1.
