Nothing ear (1) adds Google Assistant, Siri, Alexa support

Source: 9to5Google

Nothing backtracks on its initial statements, saying it wouldn't add virtual voice assistant support to its ear (1) earbuds. The company released an update that brings Amazon's Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple's Siri to the earbuds. To call the assistant of your choice, you need to triple tap on the earbuds.

The update comes through firmware version 0.6700.1.86, but 9to5Google reports that the earbuds often miss the third tap. The site recommends deleting and re-installing the ear (1) app to get the feature to work. Or you can choose to unlink and re-pair your earbuds to get rid of any lingering issues.

This is what the Nothing earbuds look like in black

When Nothing launched the ear (1) buds, it only came in white, but there have been rumblings about a black version coming out in the future. The rumours picked up when Casey Neistat, an investor in the company, coloured his buds with a Sharpie and asked Nothing to release this version. Nothing responded by asking its Twitter community if they should launch this option.

A black variant has been spotted in a Nothing video released in July. And now new renders have been spotted on Reddit, showing us what the buds could look like. Is that something you'd want to get your hands on?

Nothing launches ear (1) TWS earbuds

Source: Nothing

Nothing, a consumer tech startup from OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, has just unveiled its first product, the Ear (1) true wireless earbuds. In a statement, Pei calls these TWS buds will "[set] the tone for our connected digital world to come." He has previously talked about plans to build an ecosystem of devices, so expect to see different products from the brand.

The Ear (1)'s are distinctive with their transparent plastic design. You get a glimpse of their internal circuitry, and each bud has a colour-coded circle (red or white) to indicate the corresponding ear. Even the Qi-compatible charging case is transparent so that you can see the buds through it. The buds themselves are IPX4 water-resistant so that they can withstand some sweat and light splashes.
