iTunes on OS X adds Notification Center widget

Apple is finally taking advantage of its Notification Center for its own software. A new update for iTunes 12.1 now adds support for the Notification Center. It has a widget that will let you control your music right from the system-wide panel. Aside from being able to control your tunes, you can also purchase songs from iTunes Radio right in the widget. The update should be rolling out to you as we speak.

OS X Yosemite 10.2.2 now available, fixes WiFi connectivity issues

Apple has updated OS X Yosemite to version 10.2.2 which is available through Software Update. The update brings a variety of fixes, most notably issues with WiFi connectivity, slow performance in loading webpages, and a security issue with loading remote Mail in Spotlight. iCloud Drive content can now be browsed in Time Machine, the company's local backup solution for OS X. On my MacBook Pro with Retina Display, the update was a sizeable 554 MB download.

Any.Do releases standalone app for Mac

If you’ve been looking for a standalone app for Any.Do for OS X, then your wait is over. The app now has a desktop version. It is, however, rather similar to Any.Do’s web app, the difference is you get offline task management, which is important to some. It will also sync with Any.Do apps you use on other platforms. You can still create task lists, share the lists with others, and attach notes. Unfortunately, it doesn’t take advantage of OS X Yosemite features like preview widgets in the notification bar. It would’ve been nice if they took full advantage of the OS.
