Review: Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro+ Hand Vac

"Let's get a corgi!" they said. But what about the shedding? I've convinced myself it's only a minor inconvenience to have a shedding dog compared to the love this guy gives us. The kid convinced me "mom, I'll help with cleaning too." What we didn't expect was to be vacuuming EVERYDAY. We are just coming out of the thick of shedding season. While Harley sheds all year round, twice a year he does a major shed. We're use to it by now and we've come to realize that having the right tools means EVERYONE is more inclined to pitch in with the cleaning. So, when a product has "pet" in its description it always catches my attention. We decided to put the Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro+ Hand vacuum to the corgi shedding test.

Spotify can generate playlists for your pets

How many times has your beloved puppy had to listen to your occasionally questionable taste in music? Well, Spotify is helping create a playlist specifically for your pet. The catch is they either have to be a cat, dog, bird, hamster, or iguana. Head to this link, answer a few questions to describe them, and then upload a photo. Soon you'll be bopping along with your baby's favourite tunes.

Review: Bissell CrossWave PetPro Multi-Surface Cleaner streamlines everyday cleaning for pet owners

By Sonya Davidson

If you asked me anytime before this spring about all the pet gadgets and household items out in the market, I would have completely laughed and thought “boy, these pet owners are suckers and will buy anything.” I would question every product and ask “really, is that even necessary?” But then it happened. We caved. Our family decided to add a little furry friend into our home. Visions of snuggling up to a 10-week old corgi was going to be a reality. We fell in love with a litter of pups and tossed every logical notion aside. Corgis are not too common in our neighbourhood full of designer non-shedding, hypo-allergenic dogs. But we like to be a little different and we all agreed that it's just dog hair. How bad could it be? We could deal with it. Plus we chose one that had black with some white fur that, in my mind, wouldn't be so terrible given that I wear a lot of black. The blonde corgi hair would be more noticeable. I had convinced myself that we would be totally fine.

Then little Harley settled into our family and yes, he's a shedder.  I found myself vacuuming twice a day. Then I had the urge to wash the floors pretty much every day thanks to puppy teething/drooling and him just being a puppy and slobbering. It was also spring when he came which meant bringing in his wet puppy paws often. I was very aware of "that" wet puppy dog smell. I'm not even sure I'm completely use to that smell yet and he's now seven months old.

Google Photos showing your pets some love

Looks like Google is adding one more fun feature to its Photos app. Some users have spotted a new subject its auto-generated video covers: your pet. The app has been automatically generating videos or photo collages/slides based on certain events or places. Now, it seems to be adding dogs and cats to that mix. Although Google hasn’t officially announced anything yet, one Reddit user _mars_ stumbled on a Google Photos notification on his phone that said “Check out Doggie Movie.” The photo service basically compiled a bunch of photos of his dog and combined that with “The Blue Danube Waltz” with either dogs barking or cats meowing, depending on whether it’s a dog or a cat.
