HTC reveals Desire 8 teaser image on Weibo

HTC just confirmed leaks of a new Android smartphone with the release of a teaser image on China’s Weibo social network. The Desire 8 looks to have an all-plastic build with lock button and volume rocker on the side. It also has front-facing grills at the top and bottom of the device for that “Boom Sound” feature.

Chinese site MyDrivers reported the handset will be a mid-range device with a 5.5-inch display. It will also supposedly come with a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5.5-inch front camera. These specs have not been confirmed but the photo on the teaser looks the same as the leaked image from the site.

Microsoft Office for iPad reportedly arriving before Windows 8 touch version

Reports have surfaced that the Microsoft Office for iPad might finally be released. And the app might come even earlier than the Windows 8 touch-based version. ZDNet reports that Ballmer approved the suggestion of the Office team to release the Office for iPad as soon as the app was ready. Even if that meant it came out before the Windows 8 version. The target date of release is supposedly the first half of 2014. We’ll keep you posted on any updates.

Nokia to reportedly debut Android phone at MWC

Nokia is said to be revealing its first Android device at this year’s Mobile World Congress. The Verge quotes a Wall Street Journal report that claims the device codenamed “Normandy” will carry a “forked” version of the operating system from Google, which is similar to what Amazon did with the OS for its Kindle range. Nokia will reportedly integrate Microsoft services into the device and have a special application store for Android apps.

There aren’t too many details on the press event Nokia is holding at MWC in Barcelona except for an invite that says to “meet us under the tree.” We’ll keep you posted on any updates.
