It’s now a bit harder to accidentally activate Bixby on the Galaxy Note 9

Review: Samsung Galaxy Note 9For Galaxy Note 9 users who have no use for Samsung’s Bixby assistant, you might want to completely disable the Bixby button. Unfortunately, that option isn’t available on this phone. But a new update coming to Bixby will at least make it harder to accidentally activate the button. It’s quite easy to accidentally launch the assistant because its button is placed under the volume rocker.

Once you have the latest update, you can head to Bixby’s settings and select whether you want to launch the assistant by a single press or with a double tap. The latter lessens the chances of you accidentally launching Bixby since you’ll need to hit the button twice in rapid succession. If this is something you want and aren’t sure if your Bixby is updated, head to Settings > About Bixby and tap on the Update button.

Samsung Galaxy Note9 reportedly catches fire in a woman’s purse, lawsuit against company asks to cease sale of the phone

Review: Samsung Galaxy Note 9We’re two Note devices in since the whole Samsung Galaxy Note7 debacle and just last month at the Galaxy Note9 launch, the company assured that Note users “do not have to worry about the batteries anymore.” Samsung says the Note9’s battery is “safer than ever.” However, the company is now facing a lawsuit just barely a month since the launch.

The New York Post reports on NYC-based realtor Diane Chung’s case of her Note9 bursting into flames inside her purse earlier this September. The phone felt unusually hot when she was using it and when she placed it in her purse a few minutes later, it started “whistling” and let out thick smoke. The incident happened inside an elevator, leaving her panicked and the elevator filled with smoke. The phone burned her fingers as she tried to remove it from her purse. When she was able to kick the phone out of the elevator, a passerby was able to grab the device with a cloth and dumped it in a bucket of water.

We got the Samsung Galaxy Note 9's DeX to work with an HP Elite X3 Lapdock

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

As I've been testing the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, it occurred to me to try the DeX (Desktop Experience) feature which creates a PC-like interface when plugged into an HDMI-enabled monitor. Instead of plugging-it into a desktop monitor, I dusted off my HP Elite X3 Lapdock accessory which was designed for use with Microsoft's Windows 10 Continuum.

The Elite X3 dock is a premium accessory, it is powered by USB Type-C and connects to Windows Phones using USB Type-C as well as wirelessly. I used it briefly with my Elite X3 Windows Phone, mostly for Office 365 access.

To my surprise, plugging in the Galaxy Note 9 doesn't only enable DeX on the Elite X3 Lapdock, it gives automatic access to the keyboard and mouse.

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Brooklyn, NY - One of the defining features of Samsung’s Galaxy Note line has always been the inclusion of the S Pen stylus. When it came out in 2011, the first Galaxy Note (with a whopping 5.3-inch display!) was considered an outlier in the smartphone world.
