Samsung is being sued by US law firm over Galaxy Note7 recall

It was bound to happen and now it has indeed. US law firm McCuneWright has filed a lawsuit against Samsung over the Galaxy Note7 recall. The plaintiffs claim the recall has left them without phones for weeks. They seek reimbursement of cell phone service fees and are also look for class-action status. According to a post by McCuneWright on its site, “While Samsung has offered consumers replacement phones or a refund, it has failed to reimburse consumers for monthly costs associated with owning an unusable Note7.” CNET reached out to Samsung and they said they won’t comment on pending litigation.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge get the Note7’s always-on display feature

Samsung has carried part of the Galaxy Note7 to its two remaining flagships. The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge both get the always-on display feature of the Note. It was done perhaps to make the experience a bit more comfortable for the former Note7 owners. It also helps keep the legacy of the Note device, which might not be a brand Samsung would (or should) retain. Users will be able to customize what’s being displayed on the screen—whether it be a photo, a digital or analogue clock, or notifications. Of course, you can’t expect the S Pen-reliant features to show up. Some users have reported, though, that notifications from Samsung’s email app aren’t showing up.

Samsung Galaxy Note7 devices are banned from US and Canadian aircrafts

If you still have the Samsung Galaxy Note7 and are planning to fly in the US, said device is being banned on US aircrafts starting October 15. So if you insist to bring the device with you (at this point we recommend you return it), you might have to miss said flight. Samsung has said they’ll be sending out text messages to Galaxy Note7 owners in the US. But perhaps they need to do more than that. Spread the word while you can as well.
