Samsung’s new Galaxy A devices support Samsung Pay

Hoping to make a dent in the low-end market Samsung’s new 2016 version of its Galaxy A line get the company’s own mobile payment’s service, Samsung Pay. The A5 and A7 are the first non-flagship Galaxy devices to get access to Samsung Pay. The new A3, A5, and A7 come built with 4.7-inch, 5.2-inch, and 5.5-inch screens, respectively. They also feature narrower bezels and take design cues from the Galaxy S6. The A3 gets a 720p display, while the A5 and A7 get a 1080p screen. They get 1.5GHz quad-core and 1.6GHz octa-core processors and higher-capacity batteries. The A5 and A7 get optical image stabilization for its 13-megapixel rear shooter. But they all still retain 5-megapixel front camera. For media junkies, at least these phones still retain microSD card expansion on top of the 16GB internal storage. The new A series makes its way first to China.

Samsung Pay mobile payments system now available in the US

Samsung's mobile payments system, Samsung Pay, is now live across the US. Using a built-in app as well as thier fingerprint sensor, the service allows users to pay for purchases via NFC and contactless payments terminal.  The service is available only to Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge + and Note 5 devices on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and  US Cellular provided they're tied up with Visa, MasterCard or American Express accounts.

Google, Samsung gearing up to challenge Apple Pay in mobile payments this year

Its been over six months after Apple launched its US-based mobile payments platform Apple Pay, and competitors are finally gearing to challenge the iPhone focused payments solution.

Part of Samsung's big announcement yesterday at its Samsung Galaxy S6 device launch was Samsung Pay and today Google's Sundar Pichai revealed that his company has been working on Android Pay.
