Taylor Swift now holds Spotify's single-day album stream record for 'Midnights'

With Taylor Swift's latest album, Midnights, officially in the hands of fans and streaming services, the singer has broken a Spotify record again. Spotify revealed that Midnights is now the most-streamed album in a single day in the service's history. The company didn't immediately release the official streaming numbers, but she beat out Bad Bunny's previously held record after Un Verano Sin Ti got 183 million streams in May. (Drake was the previous record holder for Certified Lover Boy with 176.8 million streams.) The announcement came hours after reports on Twitter claimed that Spotify briefly crashed on Thursday night as fans wanted to listen to the record when it came out.

Spotify Friends Mix makes you a playlist based on what your friends are listening to

If your friends have excellent taste in music and you want to get in on that, Spotify has another automated playlist that brings you the latest tracks your friends are listening to. You will need to use Spotify's Blend feature for Friends Mix to work. According to Spotify, Your Friends Mix will create an ever-updating playlist based on what you and your friends are listening to.

The Friends Mix relies on your old Spotify Blends, so if you haven't made those yet. You need to first. When you've created three Blends, the Friends Mix should automatically generate. You'll have access to it on your Made For You hub. This playlist updates daily. It's currently available on iOS and the desktop.

Spotify's Blend tool adds more artists

Source: Spotify

Spotify updated its Blend playlist feature to add more artists. The streaming service updated this tool to let you combine your music tastes with another Spotify user. In this case, it's used to "blend" with one of your favourite artists and get a personalized playlist that updates daily based on your listening habits. It launched with artists like BTS, Charli XCX, Lauv, Megan Thee Stallion, and more. The new update adds Lizzo, Post Malone, and The Chainsmokers.

It also allows you to buy merch from one of these artists. After you get your taste match score with an artist you "blended" with, you'll be encouraged to purchase featured merch via their Spotify Shopify page. According to Spotify, the artists selected all the merch on that page.
