Don't expect a Steam Deck 2 to come out anytime soon

Photo: Valve

If you thought Valve would release a new Steam Deck every year, we're sorry to disappoint you that this might not happen. In an interview with Reviews.org, Steam Deck designers Lawrence Yang and Yazan Aldehayyat talked about the game console's future.

Despite more competition in the space, they don't plan on releasing new versions of the Steam Deck with only incremental updates. Yang said the team is looking for a "generational leap in compute without sacrificing battery life" before they launch a proper Steam Deck 2.

This SNES-like dock lets you connect your Steam Deck to your TV

GuliKit

There's now a more stylish docking station for the Steam Deck. GuliKit introduced a new Super Nintendo-inspired dock (the US version, not the European one). It features a grey case and two large purple buttons that might be purely decorative. The docking slot has a sliding cover to protect it from dust and two vents for cooling. The back of the dock has USB-C and AC power ports, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, and three USB 3.0 ports. Its dock can deliver up to 100W of power and support 4K 60Hz HDMI video output. And it also has a hidden compartment for four microSD cards.

The dock also works with handheld gaming devices like the ROG Ally and Ayaneo's systems. You can even use it with your Nintendo Switch for plaing on your TV. However, you'll have to flip your Switch upside down to plug it in. On the bright side, you can enjoy SNES games on an SNES-themed dock. GuliKit hasn’t announced the price yet, but the dock should be available in September.

'The Last of Us Part I' gets Steam Deck verified and PC patch

Image: Naughty Dog

The Last of Us Part I has finally earned the Steam Deck verified badge. Neil Druckmann had assured fans that Ellie and Joel would make it to Valve's portable PC, but the game had a rocky launch on PC a few months ago. Now, with the v1.1.0 patch, the game runs smoothly on Steam Deck and PC. However, Naughty Dog warns that the patch will require a full shader rebuild.

The patch fixes various crashes and glitches that affected the game. It also improves the HUD and the object pushing mechanic. On PC, the patch boosts the CPU and GPU performance and enhances the textures and lighting. It also resolves many gameplay bugs and issues for a better gaming experience.

'Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered' gets verified for Steam Deck

Source: Sony

Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is coming to the PC next week. Alongside that, the game gets verified for Steam Deck. Developer Insomniac Games announced this development on its Twitter account. When a game gets verified for Steam Deck, it should play great on the handheld gaming machine without significant tweaks.

Insomniac has also confirmed Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be coming to the PC sometime this fall. We're assuming the title could be verified then, too.
