First look at Nokia's Lumia 1520 and the Lumia 2520

The future of Windows Phone rests in Nokia's Lumia line. As Finland's finest continues to refine its Windows Phone hardware and features, more models have been making waves in the market. All this, while other Windows Phone hardware partners have fallen from the wayside.

The dozen or so OEMs that graced the Microsoft stage when Windows Phone debuted, have left the party, with HTC and Samsung as the last two OEMs to release notable handsets, but that was in 2012. 

While not yet available in Canada, the Lumia 1520 and the Lumia 2520 round out Nokia's pre-acquisition family of devices and here are my impressions after having had a chance to try both devices out.

Patch Tuesday: Microsoft pushes out firmware update for Surface RT

Microsoft is hard at work making the Surface RT tablet better. They just pushed out a huge Firmware update that improves WiFi connectivity, fixes issues with the volume button, improves the Type and Touch keyboard cover typing experience and fixes a 'random muting' issue as well as trackpad performance issues. Included in the update is improved IE handling of Flash content from whitelisted websites as well as updates to the Defender security application. Surface RT users can pop on in to System Update to enable the updates.

Microsoft to ramp up production of Surface tablets and partner with retail outlets

Microsoft is looking to ramp up its production of the Surface RT tablets  and make them available at additional retailers as soon as mid-December. In addition, the company announced the extension of the Microsoft holiday pop-up stores, including the transition of several of the stores into permanent Microsoft retail outlets.
