Nintendo and TAG Heuer will release a special 'Super Mario' watch

Nintendo is partnering with luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer to release a Super Mario-themed watch. According to a tweet from TAG Heuer, you can "Power-up on July 13." But on the priority access registration page to learn more about this watch, there's a countdown timer for July 15 at 10 am ET.

We don't know what the watch will be but expect it to be a premium accessory. TAG Heuer has done smartwatches in the past, so perhaps they might infuse some tech into it. We're keeping our eye out for the launch next week.

TAG Heuer has a CA$245k Android Wear watch

One of the new TAG Heuer Android Wear-powered watches needs to come with its own security detail. The TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 has a diamond-encrusted version that comes in at 190’000 CHF (which is around CA$245,000). This model comes with the name “Full Diamond” attached to it, which is an appropriate name for the watch with 589 diamonds that total 23.35 carats that’s seen across the exterior surface on both the bezel and bracelet. The other parts of the watch are adorned with 18K PD125 white gold.

The watch itself comes with an auxiliary mechanical module if you want a more traditional timepiece. You can also swap out the lugs and bracelet. What else does an almost $250,000 get you? It is also offers 50 metres of water resistance, GPS, NFC sensor for payment, HD AMOLED screen, customizable TAG Heuer dials, and Android Wear 2.0 and its companion app. We’re not sure if that’s worth the asking price but if you have to worry about that, then you’re not the target customer that’s for sure.

TAG Heuer set to release follow-up to Connected smartwatch on March 14th

TAG Heuer is taking a stab at the Android smartwatch market again with a new Connected smartwatch. This second iteration is going to be launched on March 14th. There isn’t much we know about the smartwatch yet but there have been hints that it’ll be better suited for women’s wrists than the original. Design might not stray too far from TAG Heuer’s usual look but having a smaller case and more color options might appeal it to more people. We, however, expect it to still be as pricey as the first one.

Leaks of the smartwatch hint at possible modularity, allowing users to swap in a mechanical timepiece if the digital one doesn’t work for the occasion but we can’t say if this’ll come. There are hints it could get features like Android Pay support, GPS, and a brighter display. March 14th is coming up so we don’t have to wait that long.
