Apple offers US$25 extra credit on Apple Watch trade-in

If you have plans to trade in your old Apple Watch for a newer model, Apple is giving US$25 in extra credit in honour of Heart Month. This trade-in credit is valid until February 28 in Canada, the US, the UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, and the UAE.

Apple launches Mac in-store trade-in program in Canada

We've heard reports earlier this month about Apple introducing an in-store trade-in for Mac devices. And now, the company has officially launched this program in Canada and the United States. This is the first time the company is extending its in-store trade-in program to the Mac. But it has long since allowed customers to swap in other products like the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch at its retail stores. Before this, Mac trade-ins were limited online, meaning you had to mail in your old Mac to Apple and wait for the company to send you an Apple Store Gift Card or credit towards your new purchase. 

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman noticed a change in the wording on Apple's Trade In webpage that said that Mac trade-ins were only available online. It now mentions that you can trade-in your devices online or at Apple Stores. But with COVID-19 restrictions, some Apple Stores remain closed or offer limited services. It might be best to check if you can get your device traded-in.

Apple officially accepts non-Apple device trade-ins

Rumours have surfaced a few weeks back that Apple will be accepting non-Apple devices (Android, Windows Phone, and BlackBerry) to trade for new iPhones. Now, it would seem the initiative is finally official. Working with Brightstar, the ones who run the existing iOS trade-in program, Apple Stores in Canada, US, UK, Germany, France, and Italy are now accepting the non-Apple smartphones.

When you trade in your smartphone, you'll be getting some sort of store credit for an iPhone. Unfortunately, the trade-in doesn't seem to extend to other Apple gadgets, like the Apple Watch and iPad. It's simply a phone-for-phone kind of deal. But it seems to be rolling out slower than expected. At the moment, not all the stores yet know that the trade-in program extends to non-Apple gadgets.

Microsoft looks to buy your tablet or smartphone for up to $250

Looking to buy a new Microsoft device or a Surface 2, specifically? The Redmond, Washington-based technology company is offering to buy your tablet or smartphone for up to $250. But that amount will only be usable at the Microsoft Store. The offer is valid until March 2, 2014 or “while supplies last.” You can also only avail the promo at select Microsoft retail stores in Canada and the US (including Puerto Rico).
