Screenshots of the Samsung Gear VR Manager app surface

It’s not the easiest thing to keep a secret in tech these days. So, we’re not really surprised when leaked screenshots of Samsung’s reported VR headset have surfaced. The Gear VR is tipped to be unveiled at this year’s IFA and this time we get to see screenshots of the supposed manager app for the headset. Based on these screenshots, it looks like the Gear VR will be getting some pretty nifty features, including S-Voice compatibility, full touch capability with a touchpad, and a see-thru display (when you need it to be). Let’s hope this is legit. If we find out more, we’ll let you know.

Encryption bug prevents paid apps from working on Android Wear devices

Those who pre-ordered Android Wear devices might have one important issue to contend with: your paid apps might not work on your smartwatch. The apps for Android Wear are usually downloaded from Google Play along with the smartphone component and will be installed via Bluetooth automatically. However, it has been reported that paid apps aren’t transferring to the wearables.

Android Police claims the problem is related to Google’s app encryption measures that is intended to keep pirates away. The Android Wear devices just can’t seem to find these Wear apps in encrypted packages. We’re hoping Google remedies this problem soon.

Lenovo files patent for a Google Glass-like wearable concept

Lenovo looks like it wants to enter the wearable technology market with a new US patent they applied for. They are trying to patent a headset design that features dual screens, voice recognition, and touch-based navigation. It has a bone-conducting microphone about your nose bridge to make it easier to catch your voice. We’re not sure what Lenovo will do with this patent but it gives us an idea of what we might get in the future.

Google tests ‘Notification Glance’ for Glass

Google has added a new experimental feature for Google Glass that will make it easier for users to pull up notifications. Called Notification Glance, the feature lets users use a glance to pull up any notification that comes in. Users can opt to use this instead of nodding their heads or tapping on the touchpad. After the update comes in, users can activate the feature through the Notification Glance card in the Settings menu. You just have to remember that this feature is still in its testing phase though.
