WhatsApp helps you avoid spam calls completely

WhatsApp has announced a new update aiming to reduce spam calls and enhance user privacy. The update includes two features: Silence Unknown Callers and Privacy Checkup. Silence Unknown Callers allows you to mute calls from unknown numbers. The calls will still show up in your call list, so you can check them later if they are important. This feature can help you avoid unwanted interruptions and distractions.

Privacy Checkup guides you through various privacy settings that can protect your messages, calls, and personal information. By selecting ‘Start checkup’ in your Privacy settings, you can choose who can contact you, control your personal info, add more privacy to your chats, and add more protection to your account. This feature can help you customize your privacy preferences and secure your WhatsApp account.

WhatsApp gives admins easier control over who can join groups

Image: WhatsApp

A recent update to WhatsApp simplifies how admins manage membership. You can quickly access all the requests to join a group in one place. You can click on an "X" or a checkmark to either reject or approve a user.

The new update also makes it easier to find out which groups you have in common with your contacts. You can now search for a contact's name to see which groups you have in common. These features come months after WhatsApp launched Communities, a new feature that offers larger, more structured discussion groups. You can expect this update to come in the next few weeks.

WhatsApp brings picture-in-picture support for iOS video calls

Screenshot: 9to5Mac

Meta has finally brought a useful feature to its latest WhatsApp iOS update. Version 23.3.77 introduces picture-in-picture support for video calls, which Meta started testing at the end of last year. Similar to other PiP modes, WhatsApp will allow you to open different apps with your call window minimized. If it isn't available to you yet, the company said these updates will roll out "over the coming weeks."

Some of the other new features include the option to add captions to documents you send over the app, add longer subjects and descriptions in group chats, and a new option to create an avatar for your profile photo and stickers.

WhatsApp rolls out Accidental Delete feature to undo Delete For Me

WhatsApp has a new feature to let you reverse the Delete for Me action you might have done in your chats. Accidental Delete gives you a five-second window to reverse unintentional Delete for Me actions you've done in a group chat. Delete for Me only takes out the message for yourself without removing it in a conversation with others. And once you've done it, you can't reverse that decision. It'll remain visible to those in the chat, but you won't be able to take it back. Accidental Delete helps save you from that. WhatsApp is bringing the feature to all Android and iOS users.
