YouTube makes a Windows Phone comeback

After Google demanded Microsoft to take down their YouTube app due to the lack of ads, YouTube has finally returned to the Windows Phone platform—with ads included.

The updated version, which had Microsoft and Google working together, now also features video upload support, the ability to stream live video channels, voice search and activation, as well as access to playlists, uploads, video lists, and the ability to manage a YouTube account’s profile page. Windows Phone users will be able to pin Live Tiles of videos, channels, playlists, and search queries on the Start screen, too.

UPDATE (as of August 15, 2013):

Google seems to have disabled the YouTube app for Windows Phone yet again, citing that it still violates their Terms of Service.

Skype adds HD video calling support for iOS apps

While high-definition video calls have been a feature in Skype’s Windows Phone app since March, Apple users are only now being introduced to the said feature with the version 4.10 update of the app. iPhone and iPad users can now see their Skype video callers in HD.

The latest update also gives a hand to international callers with a drop-down menu that lets you select a specific country code instead of needing to type it. Improvements in terms of call quality and stability have also been included. You can download the Skype app for the iPhone 5 here and for the fourth-generation iPad one here

Google Drive adds spellcheck and customizable lists

Google Drive comes up with another incremental but useful update by adding a spellcheck mode and customizable bulleted lists.

Spellcheck mode lets you check your entire document or presentation at once. You just need to select “Tools” from the menu bar and then click on “Spelling.” Meanwhile, with the customizable lists, Google lets you change the size, color, and style of individual bullets, which can be considered an OC’s dream.
