Wind Mobile offers free long distance calls worldwide for the holidays

WIND Mobile unveiled mobile phone booths in each WIND market providing free long distance calls to anywhere in the world over the holidays.  These colourful booths have been set up at stores in Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. People can enjoy talk time to any mobile or land line around the globe.

"WIND wants to ensure everyone can send their season's greetings to loved ones this year," says WIND Mobile Chairman, Anthony Lacavera.  "Whether it's a student studying across the country unable to make it home for the holidays, a new Canadian spending their first year away from home, or someone just wanting to call mom."

Regardless of new technology, traditional methods to get in touch over the holidays are still the most popular. In a recent survey, WIND found a good old fashioned phone call (70 per cent) topped people's list on how to send holiday cheer, even when compared with texting (18 per cent), email (66 per cent) or regular mail (55 per cent).

On top of offering free calls, WIND is making the holidays even nicer with on-site gift-wrapping in each WIND market. In return, customers will be asked to provide a donation which will support local food banks and toy drives. WIND also has amazing holiday promotions and gift ideas including:

  • $25 unlimited talk and text or web for a year.
  • 2 for 1 BlackBerry smartphones - purchase a BlackBerry Bold 9700 and receive a BlackBerry pearl 3G free.
