ASUS betting on 4K technology for desktop monitors with 31.5-inch PQ321 display

While the highly touted 4K video standard has been the biggest feature to come to home theatre and HDTVs since 3D and BluRay, ASUS has gone a step further in pushing for he standard in desktop monitors. The PQ321 display offers 31.5-inches of 4K goodness with an unprecedented 3840×2160 resolution.
The monitor will include DisplayPort and dual-HDMI input, integrated speakers, and an adjustable stand but will require some prodigous processing in the back end to push those pixels. Premium graphic cards like Nvidia's GeForce 600 family and AMD Radeon HD 6000 and 7000 series should support 4K resolutions over HDMI and DisplayPort. It will be trickier to get this done on integrated graphics cards.
Right now, the only ones who can really benefit from these monitors are video editors editing video shot it 4K or graphic artists who are making use of the format or creating content particularly for that format. ASUS is expected to release more details as well as pricing informartion later on in June.
