You Don’t Need to Leave Toronto to Buy These 3 Big Ticket Items

Toronto has some of the best shopping in North America. However, we don’t have to tell you that there is a lack of big box stores in the downtown core.

If we need something at Ikea or Costco, Torontonians will typically save it for the weekend and drive “just a bit” outside of the city. If we live in the heart of the downtown area, there is also usually a car, truck or van rental involved.

Of course, once we get there, we realize that everyone in the GTA had the same idea. The store is a madhouse and we can’t believe that this is how we chose to spend our weekend.

Are these big-box stores all they’re cracked up to be? No, not really. Can you save your weekend and your money by buying these big-ticket items somewhere else? Yes, you can!

LG will roll out AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support to its TVs starting ‘mid-year’ 2019

There’s a catch to that, though. LG is limiting the addition of AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support to its 2019 TVs. The functionalities are expected to land “mid-year” this 2019. Owners of these TVs are also expected to get a firmware update that will add Amazon Alexa support on top of the Google Assistant support that these televisions come with. LG hasn’t announced any plans yet of possibly bringing the tech to its slightly older TVs. For now, the LG models that will support AirPlay 2 include LG OLED (2019), LG NanoCell SM9X and SM8X (2019), and LG UHD UM7X series (2019).

Apple is bringing iTunes to Samsung’s 2018 and 2019 TVs

In another display of how Apple is shifting its strategy, the company is partnering with one of its biggest rivals to bring iTunes and Apple AirPlay 2 to Samsung’s current and upcoming line of TVs. This marks the first time Apple is allowing a third-party access its library outside of Windows PCs. Owners of Samsung 2019 and 2018 TVs will be able to play their iTunes movie and TV show library as well as buy and rent content from a dedicated app coming to these TVs. The 2018 models will get the feature via a firmware update. The iTunes Movies and TV Shows app will be coming to 100 countries (no specifics yet on which ones). To protect its users’ privacy, Apple told The Verge Samsung’s smart TV ad-tracking features will not work within the app.

On top of this, Apple is also bringing AirPlay 2 support to Samsung Smart TVs in 190 countries worldwide. This means, you can stream videos, photos, music, podcasts, and the like from your Apple devices directly to Samsung TVs, which include the QLED 4K and 8K TVs, The Frame and Serif lifestyle TVs, as well as other Samsung UHD and HD models.
