Laplink Releases updated version of its imaging software

Laplink® Software, Inc. announced today the newest release of Laplink DiskImage, its advanced backup and recovery software. The new features added to DiskImage 8 make the software even more user-friendly, allow for increased efficiency, and can help users transition between PCs – the prefect complementary software for users transitioning from Windows XP before end of support on April 8.

Data loss can happen to anyone. Whether it’s an accidental coffee spill, a power surge, or a particularly nasty bit of malware, data loss often occurs without warning.

It also performs automatic monitoring that warns the user if an image or backup hasn’t been performed for a long period of time. Users can choose an all-inclusive image for complete hard drive recovery, or an incremental image to backup only data that has changed since the last backup. Laplink DiskImage can be used to restore all data, or a user can now choose to restore only individual files.

The newest edition of Laplink DiskImage makes it easy to be efficient while protecting data. Standard ISO files can now be mounted as data image files and virtual hard disks. Images of virtual hard disks from Microsoft can be converted into DiskImage image files and vice versa, and DiskImage now supports EFI/UEFI systems in addition to the classic BIOS. The enhanced scripting interface allows for full control and configuration of DiskImage for integration with a user’s own applications. Storage is more optimized in Laplink DiskImage 8, allowing the user to specify a maximum number of backups to retain. Once the maximum number is reached, older backups are automatically overwritten.

DiskImage also features machine independent restoration, making it possible to restore a system onto different hardware, which is typically the case in event of a disaster.
