Google ends Glass Explorer program, hints at future versions

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Many people have been recently wondering if there was still hope for Google Glass. The once aggressive wearable project seems to have sputtered and gone silent.

Google, just announced via its Google Plus page that it is closing its Explorer Program. January 19 will be the last day for interested parties to purchase the exisiting Google Glass hardware and that Google Glass is exiting the Google X labs and is being transitioned to its own team at Google. Hit jump for the juicy details.

As part of this transition, we’re closing the Explorer Program so we can focus on what’s coming next. January 19 will be the last day to get the Glass Explorer Edition. In the meantime, we’re continuing to build for the future, and you’ll start to see future versions of Glass when they’re ready. (For now, no peeking.)

So, while it seems the ride for Google Glass explorers is over like the Sons of Anarchy finale, Google is finally getting serious with Google Glass and its future, possibly a more concrete product. This should be exciting and hopefully fruitful. Check out the post here.
