Judge: Uber can't be shut down in Toronto
Uber can't be shut own in Toronto as per a judge's 30 page ruling which cites that the city of Toronto can't do anything to shut down Uber unless they change current bylaws. Uber is a globally disruptive transtportation service that makes getting a cab, limo, or SUV easier using and app on a smartphone and a toghtly integrated ratings standard for riders and drivers.
Superior Court Judge Sean Dunphy rejected arguments that Uber is required to have a taxi license in order to operate. The nature of Uber's service, which is carried out over smartphones and apps, separate it from traditional taxis, Judge Dunphy contends that Uber doesn't fit the definition of a taxi company and therefore current Judge: taxi regulations don't apply to it.
