Here’s the latest news about the ‘Star Wars’ universe

A new poster for The Force Awakens, the cast for Rogue One, the director for Episode IX, and theme park rides. It’s been a pretty busy presentation from Disney and Lucasfilm at the semi-annual D23 fan event.

The new painted poster released for The Force Awakens at D23 shows some new information about the upcoming film. Created by Drew Struzan, who’s worked on the posters of the other Star Wars films and the Indiana Jones films, it shows us things like Finn (John Boyega) is possibly a Jedi as he wields a lightsaber. Also on the poster, you see Kylo Ren, Rey (Daisy Ridley), and Han Solo (Harrison Ford).

Meanwhile, the cast for the Star Wars spinoff Rogue One gets its cast and the photo up there shows them together. Some of the big names tied to the project now include Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Hong Kong action star/martial artist Donnie Yen, Chinese actor Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, and Alan Tudyk.

Rogue One will be directed by Godzilla’s Gareth Edwards and its story follows rebel fighters that team up to steal plans of the Death Star. We have quite a wait for this though since it’s coming out on December 16, 2016.

For Episode IX coming out in 2019, Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow will be at the helm.

And as mentioned there will be new Star Wars-themed lands at two of Disney’s parks. The Anaheim and Orlando parks will each be getting 14-acre Star Wars lands. Disney promises to “bring new life to the Star Wars experience.” Two of the main attractions include being able to “take control of the Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission” and “an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you right in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”
