Ladies Learning Code and Scotiabank to Introduce code:clubs

The goal: to provide girls and boys ages 8-13 across Canada with critical learning opportunities to develop skills they need to navigate our increasingly digital world

Scotiabank and Ladies Learning Code are banding together to introduce code:clubs which they hope will help provide a program and venues for computer students to learn how to code.

“Partnering with a company as innovative as Scotiabank is really exciting for us”, says Melissa Sariffodeen, Co-Executive Director at Ladies Learning Code. “Not only does it provide us with resources to help launch a new and much requested program, but the partnership also allows us to leverage key talent and expertise to guide the strategic direction of our organization in 2016.”

Scotiabank has also committed to supporting Ladies Learning Code and our goal to reach 200,000 learners by 2020 through new and groundbreaking programming for youth.

In partnership with Scotiabank, this spring Ladies Learning Code will be launching code:clubs - a technology education program that can be run anywhere! Created with teachers, educators and parents in mind, code:clubs programs are designed to be facilitated by non-technical educators and youth program managers within schools, community centres, day-cares or at home at lunchtime, afterschool, evenings or weekends.

The goal: to provide girls and boys ages 8-13 across Canada with critical learning opportunities to develop skills they need to navigate our increasingly digital world.  Empowering non-technical and technical educators with the tools they need to run these programs means there’s no school or community center in Canada Ladies Learning Code can’t support!
