Rogers' new website provides free resources, promotion for small businesses

Rogers launches a new website to help small businesses navigate the tough times the COVID-19 pandemic brought on. It's designed not just to promote these companies but also to offer resources for the owners. It provides free access to resources like Facebook Blueprint, Twitter Flight School, and LinkedIn Learning to assist businesses as they pivot and adjust to serving customers under these new conditions. 

The new website will put a spotlight on Rogers' small business customers. The carrier will support them through targeted social media campaigns that will promote these businesses in their local areas.

Apple Pay expands to Canada with support from major banks this June

Apple Pay is available to all active Interac debit cards issued by CIBC and RBC. Your debit card does not have to be an Interac Flash enabled card. In stores, Apple Pay works with iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch. You will first need to add your debit card to the Apple Wallet to make mobile transactions.

Interac can be used with Apple Pay to buy goods and services across Canada in the hundreds of thousands of Canadian stores wherever contactless payments 

Apple Pay, which securely uses iPhone and Apple Watch to enable contact less payments, has been in Canada for some time now but limited to customers of American Express credit cards. That is all changing shortly as major banks and other credit card companies have been announced as partners and are looking to offer the functionality to their iPhone and Apple Watch-toting users. 

Apple has confirmed that Apple Pay will be coming to CIBC (credit and debit), ATB (credit, debit coming later), Canadian Tire Financial Services (credit), RBC (credit and debit) and of course American Express has enjoyed the first-mover advantage since late last year.

Nikon Canada hosts lecture series, contests, and student gallery at Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival

For the sixth year in a row, Nikon Canada is working with the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival, which brings in over 1,500 artists in 200 exhibitions and events in the Greater Toronto Area. This year, Nikon has three different activities going on: one is its weekly photo contest, another is lectures hosted by Nikon Canada Ambassadors, and another is a youth project.

Ladies Learning Code and Scotiabank to Introduce code:clubs

The goal: to provide girls and boys ages 8-13 across Canada with critical learning opportunities to develop skills they need to navigate our increasingly digital world

Scotiabank and Ladies Learning Code are banding together to introduce code:clubs which they hope will help provide a program and venues for computer students to learn how to code.

“Partnering with a company as innovative as Scotiabank is really exciting for us”, says Melissa Sariffodeen, Co-Executive Director at Ladies Learning Code. “Not only does it provide us with resources to help launch a new and much requested program, but the partnership also allows us to leverage key talent and expertise to guide the strategic direction of our organization in 2016.”
