Google's Pixel handset is leaked by carriers ahead of tomorrow's launch

We're a day away from a momentous launch event by Google (stay tuned for our live coverage here), where Google is expected to unload the next phase of its mobile strategy with new smartphones, Chromecasts and possibly VR-focused hardware. The big news coming out of that event will no doubt be Google's retiring of the Nexus line and move upscale to its #madebygoogle Pixel Line (which is really made by HTC).

Bell and TELUS have already jumped the gun and leaked renders of what the pixelphones will look like and now Carphone Warehouse has leaked a ton of information on the new devices.

The smaller device is expected to ship with a microSD card slot, a 1920 x 1080 “quad HD display”. Other specs, like the Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB of RAM, camera, and Android 7.1. Google seems to be heralding the Google Personal Assistant (a key feature of the Allo app) and is moving away from Google Now as the main way to interact with the phone and its service.

Jusdging from the photos and renders, the design seems a bit uninspired (or rather, inspired by the iPhone 6). Being an HTC device, I expect top-notch build even if this is something Google may have designed. We'll have a better idea of how this looks and feels tomorrow when Google kicks off what could be its biggest product launch event yet.
