Review: JayBird Freedom wireless headphones

Wireless and bluetooth enabled headphones are slowly but surely surpassing wired sets as the go to accessories for sports as well as travelling and commuting. I recently tried JayBird's Freedom wireless headphones and they have become my all around grab-and-go solution for listening to music in the gym, on the go or while commuting to work.

JayBird's Freedom headphones are made of high quality materials and this is something that comes across right away, as tiny as they are, they look and feel rugged and can withstand quite a lot of use.

I liked that JayBird provides a variety of earpieces and styles to suit individual needs and it didn't take too long for me to find the right fit.

JayBird manages to strike a balance of tasteful fashion and rugged functionality that just makes it delightful to use and look at.

I also like that the earpieces themselves are rather light since most of the functionality has been moved to the control button which also contains the microphone and the pogo plugs for the charging accessory.This puts less stress on your ears, specially during longer workout sessions.

The charging accessory is genius, it basically contains a secondary battery that will give you a couple of hours boost when you plug it in and also serves as a charging docl. Everything fits into a nice leatherette case.

Light weight, convenience, 8-hour battery life and a stellar JayBird MySound App which allows for unprecedented tweaking of audio settings to bring out the best possible sound from any connected device or music service, make the JayBird Freedom, easily one of the most advanced wireless headphones available today.

In day to day use, I have appreciated certain nuances of the JayBird Freedom. When turning on the headphones, you get a funky bit of fanfare telling you the headphones are connected plus the amount of battery left. I also like the feel and responsiveness of the buttons plus the durability of the silicone ear inserts, which manage to stay in place.

Some of the things I think can be improved with the JayBird Freedom wireless headphones are that I find the length between the two headsets a bit on the short side and also that increasing or reducing volume from the headphone itself could use fine some fine tuning.

I find sometimes audio might be too low but increasing the volume by one press makes it a bit too loud. It would be nice to get a larger range of gradation.

In terms of sound, I am completely satisfied with what the JayBird Freedom can manage. The stock setting is great for most music and for podcasts and voice and most users will be happy with the quality and the loudness right out of the box.

The JayBird MyFreedom app can extend the range, quality and depth of the sound to suit all music types as well as tuning it for various devices. Coming to Canada via Best Buy, the JayBird MyFreedom's SRT is $215.00.

Overall, the JayBird Freedom wireless headphones raise the bar for wireless headphones which are now boasting great sound, acceptable battery power and convenience that few wired pairs can match.

If you spend a lot of time listening to music or content on-the-go or if you are a frequent traveler or gym rat who want the most uncompromising set of quality premium bluetooth headphones, the JayBird Freedom has a lot to offer.
