Pixar's 'Soul' will head to Disney+ on Christmas Day
COVID-19 has affected everyday life, including going to cinemas. And so, Disney is adapting some of its releases to reach audiences who still aren't comfortable visiting movie theatres these days. Its new Pixar film Soul will be released exclusively on Disney+ on December 25 in markets where the streaming service is available.
In a statement, Disney said, "Over the last six months, marketplace conditions created by the ongoing pandemic, while difficult in so many ways, have also provided an opportunity for innovation in approaches to content distribution. With over 60 million subscribers within the first year of launch, the Disney+ platform is an ideal destination for families and fans to enjoy a marquee Pixar film in their own homes like never before."
Soul joins the likes of Artemis Fowl and Mulan, which premiered on the service. The animation, though, will eventually be released in theatres where Disney+ isn't available.
