Google will no longer produce the Nest Secure alarm system

Source: Google

Google has discontinued its Nest Secure alarm system. But the company promises to "continue to support our security users in all the same ways." Introduced in 2017, it was a modular alarm system with the hockey puck-like keypad called the Nest Guard, which served as the central hub; Nest Detects, which were the sensors placed around the house; and the NFC key fobs to arm and disarm the system.

The Nest Secure is also connected to the Nest mobile app to let you receive alerts and arm and disarm the system remotely. It even had a secret, on-device microphone that Google didn't advertise until the network got Google Assistant support.

Even without the Nest Secure, Google still offers smart home security devices like security cameras, smoke alarms, video doorbells, and more. Back in August, Google announced a US$450 million investment in security firm ADT, with Nest devices serving as the "cornerstone of ADT's smart home offering."
