Spider-Man 3, Doctor Strange 2, Thor 4 get new release dates
We already know that the sequel of animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse got a new release date. But it looks like Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures moved around a few more films to give each title more attention and time in the box office. The third Spider-Man film, which will follow Spider-Man: Far from Home, gets moved from July 16, 2021, to November 5, 2021. While Uncharted, which also stars Spider-Man actor Tom Holland, gets the July 16 release date.
Holland was scheduled to start shooting Uncharted ahead of the new Spider-Man movie, but it got shut down last month because of the COVID-19 pandemic. And it looks like Sony wants to finish shooting Uncharted first after all.
As for the November 5 date, that was supposed to be the release date for the Sam Raimi-directed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness film. After already being pushed back from May 7, 2021, to the November 5 date, it's now being delayed yet again to March 25, 2022.
On slightly better news, Thor: Love and Thunder gets an earlier release. It'll come out on February 11, 2022, instead of February 18, 2022. Perhaps to give a bit of breathing room between Thor's next adventure and Doctor Strange's sequel.
So far, the rest of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film schedules remain the same. But given the uncertain times, we aren't 100% certain that some movies won't be moved around. For now, these are at least giving us some things to be excited about once this pandemic is over.
